How do you become a young gun? According to award winning Australian architect Michael Ong it is about asking yourself how your designs can be better and more refined.

After a month of award ceremonies, the 2014 Regional ADNZ | Resene Architectural Design Awards came to a close over the weekend with the celebration of the Wellington, Hawkes Bay/Poverty Bay and Taranaki/Wanganui/Manawatu Design Award function in Palmerston North.

There are few people who can claim to have drive-on access for their boat - Kim Wallace and Anthony Michalik have achieved that rare distinction. Their holiday home cum boathouse has walk-on access only, no garage for the car, but a very sophisticated winch system enables them to launch and cradle their 27 foot power cat by remote control.

Otago/Southland led the way at this year’s ADNZ | Resene Architectural Design Awards with the region taking out the highest number of regional awards.
