Bach wins big

Bach wins big add

We have all seen them - the picturesque beachfront bachs that just scream 'do me up!' We think about family times on the beach, wine as the sun sets and children and grandchildren enjoying the sea breeze. Well look away now as this gorgeous 1950's renovated bach in Manly beach will make you want to give up your inner city pad and move to the seaside.

Designed by David Maurice of LTD Architectural, 'The Bach' won a Residential Interiors Architectural Design Award at the ADNZ | Resene Architectural Design Awards.

David Maurice said that the goal was to maintain the original scale and feel - the 'essence' of the old bach while also creating a place for his client to gather and connect with friends and family.

"We wanted to create a series of special 'moments' within the space which was a challenge given the relatively small floor area. The design needed to be lively and interesting, going beyond restoration, while retaining its modesty and ties with the past."

Achieving award winning results, judges of the ADNZ awards said the interior was fresh, colourful and eclectic and established connections between occupants, building and context.

Located in Rodney, LTD Architectural are not first timers to the winner's circle. The design team, which includes Joseph Long won a National ADNZ | Resene Architectural Design Award last year for an elegant coastal family home in Red Beach and Joseph Long was a National Finalist in the Residential New Home between 150m2 and 300m2 category for Omaha House.

ADNZ CEO, Astrid Andersen, said LTD Architectural are proving they are a force to be reckoned with in the Auckland architectural design scene.

"To win two National Awards back to back is quite impressive. Not often do designers have such a presence at our awards and so we are delighted to recognise David and LTD Architectural for the hard work they put in year after year. Well done David,"
