The 2019 theme is ‘designing a remarkable future’. It was chosen because of the remarkable setting of this year’s conference in the inspiring city of Queenstown. It is also fitting due to the role ADNZ members and ADNZ play in bettering the New Zealand design industry.
So, what can we expect from the 2019 line up of speakers? ADNZ events and CPD Programme Manager, Jo Woodage, said this year’s speakers are all about educating and motivating.
“The speakers at conference are going to seriously motivate and inspire all who attend. We have stories of success, lessons learned, advice for those new to the industry and innovative tales of people doing business and their craft in new ways,” said Jo.
One such speaker is Damien van Brandenburg. Damien is working on an exciting vision for Dunedin’s waterfront, he is also working on a new 120,000sqm complex in China’s southern city of Shenzhen. An innovator and visionary, Damien will share his inspiring journey and his vision for the future.
We will also hear from professional speaker, Amy Scott on the art of communication. Infamously regarded as ‘The Human Dynamo from Central Otago’, Amy is an authority in the art of communication and the ‘Dots’ communication model. Amy will provide business owners and managers with new insights into managing personalities and creating a working environment where everyone works together cohesively.
Murali Bhaskar is another highly anticipated speaker who is sure to motivate. Murali’s a lead design architect with BOON Team Architects. He lives and works in Taranaki but grew up and studied in Kerala, South India. Murali’s special interest is pursuing a unique style of NZ architecture, often blurring the boundaries between media, art, graphic design and architecture through collaborative design processes. A respected member of the New Zealand architecture community, Murali will be a standout speaker for many of our design professionals.
In addition to the above speakers, the 2019 Architectural Design Conference will also include talks from Jim Boult, Sam Buchan, Bob Burnett, Ailsa Carroll, Andrew Eagles, Claire Turnbull, Nick Tuffley, Verney Ryan and Tim Wilson. A line up that has something for everyone.
Though many of our attendees will be looking forward to the speakers, for some, the best part of conference is the networking and social events. This year we have the fantastic ‘Ye-Hah Get Your Country On!’ social event planned for the Thursday night and of course our 2019 ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Awards will be held on the Friday evening. To close conference, attendees will be treated to an architecture tour of Otago’s local architecture – including Jagged Edge, a spectacular home hanging off the cliff in Lake Wakitipu.
